Artistic Wire has an exclusive enamel coating that is available in a high-shine metallic finish, or in a matte finish. The coating is engineered to resist tarnishing, chipping, and peeling and to stand up to coiling, spiral making, twisting, wrapping, and other wire working techniques. You can easily form Artistic Wire into jewelry components such as chain maille, beaded chain, jump rings, earwires, wire wrapped pendants, gemstone settings, and more! Tinned Copper and Bare Copper Wire do not have the tarnish-resistant coating. These wires will patina over time Wire is measured in gauges, the smaller the gauge the thicker the wire. One might use a thicker gauged wire for support and strength, such as a stem of a beaded flower, and a thinner gauged wire for delicate or intricate crocheted wire projects. Use a middle gauged wire for basic wire wrapping and jig projects. 26 Gauge wire is approximately 0.0159 inches or 0.404 millimeters in diameter.
