Agate

Agate beads and pendants are a banded and or multi-colored member of the quartz family. The characteristic bands of color are caused by the presence of iron and manganese. Agate, one of the oldest known gems has been valued for thousands of years. The most popular types of agate include blue lace agate and moss agate. Agate is reputed to aid insomnia and sweet dreams. Other members of the quartz family include jasper, carnelian and onyx.

Description: Spiderweb Carnelian AKA: "Fire Crackle Agate" and "Crab Fire Agate". While each of these names do imply this stone is a form of agate, the term fire agate or any variation there of, should be reserved for the genuine opalescent gemstone. Spiderweb carnelian is a beautiful rusty orange stone with fascinating surface patterns. The patterns are most likely caused by a heat treatment that "shocks" the stone's surface into cracking. The stone has also undergone color treatment, which is quite common for carnelian. The unique flaming surface crackle of this stone doesn't reach through the entire stone, which means this is still a very sturdy and wearable gem. This stone exhibits a varying degree of translucence and color intensity. Clearer sections of this stone appear to radiate light from within, while others may exhibit a warm milky orange glow. String these beads with gold filled rounds and Swarovski's Fire Opal diamonds for a feast of fiery indulgence.
