Amazonite's lustrously vibrant blue-green colors are believed to be caused by the presence of iron and or lead within the mineral. Ironically named after the Amazon River, no Amazonite has ever been found in the Amazon region. Most of the world's Amazonite can be found in the USA, Russia, Africa and Australia.

Description:	Aventurine is an often banded translucent to opaque variety of the quartz family often with tiny sparkling mineral inclusions. While the most common form of aventurine is green, it can also be found in shades of blue, red, and white. Aventurine's name stems from the Italian "By Chance" from the accidental discovery of "Aventurine Glass" more widely known as Goldstone.
