Aventurine is an often banded translucent to opaque variety of the quartz family, often with tiny sparkling mineral inclusions. While the most common form of aventurine is green, it can also be found in shades of blue, red, and white. It is commonly dyed to produce bold shades of red, blue or green, and also for color consistency. Aventurine's name stems from the Italian "By Chance" from the accidental discovery of "Aventurine Glass" more widely known as Goldstone. Description:	Small gemstone chips are both popular and versatile. Their convenient size makes them easy to work with, and useful in a wide variety of designs. You can use them as a subtle color accent or base your entire design upon them. Their natural organic shape makes them a great partner for beads like precious metal rounds or metallic seed beads. Citrine is a variety of quartz named for its sunny citrusy color. Most commercial citrine on the market is heat treated amethyst (also a type of quartz). Natural citrine is lighter in color than the heat treated stones and is rather rare. Although its name inspires thoughts of tropical sun filled days, take care to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, as sunlight can discolor your stone. Citrine has a more reddish- orange hue than its citrusy cousin, lemon quartz. Citrine is one of November's birthstones.
