Description: Chalcedony (Kal-SED-uh-nee) is a form of microcrystalline quartz. The crystals in these varieties of quartz are too small to be seen without magnification. Most of your favorite stones are technically Chalcedony, including all Agates, Jaspers, Aventurine, Onyx, Tiger Eye and Carnelian. Although each of these stones are Chalcedony, the jewelry marketing term usually refers to a waxy, solid colored translucent stone, that is most often blue. Blue Chalcedony exhibits a uniform coloration of ethereally lovely blue.
