Cabochons

Cabochons are usually a highly polished, convex shaped, un-faceted gem with a flat back for mounting. On occasion, some cabochons may have flat faces or may have their top surface faceted. Cabochons can be utilized in a number of different ways. You can secure them with a seed bead stitched bezel, wrap them with wire, set them into PMC designs, or glue them onto flat surfaces such as bolo slides. Cabochons can be made from gemstones, glass, or even shell. Please note: Cabochons are not beads, and do not have holes!

Description: Cabochons are usually a highly polished, convex shaped, un-faceted gem with a flat back for mounting. Our glass cabochons are great for use with PMC. The un-foiled cabochons can be fired with PMC3 at lower temperatures. Cabochons with foil backs can be set after the firing process. Simply create an impression 15% larger than the cabochon you wish to set before firing. The impression will shrink to the desired size, and then you can simply glue your cabochon in place.
