These wires are made by first plating the copper wire with a precision layer of pure silver. Then coated with a unique enamel color on top of the silver plating. The silver plating beneath the color adds an incredible high-shine and brilliance to the wire. The coating is engineered to resist tarnishing, chipping, and peeling and to stand up to coiling, spiral making, twisting, wrapping, and other wire working techniques. You can easily form Artistic Wire into jewelry components such as chain maille, beaded chain, jump rings, earwires, wire wrapped pendants, gemstone settings, and more! Wire is measured in gauges, the smaller the gauge the thicker the wire. One might use a thicker gauged wire for support and strength, such as a stem of a beaded flower, and a thinner gauged wire for delicate or intricate crocheted wire projects. Use a middle gauged wire for basic wire wrapping and jig projects. 26 Gauge wire is approximately 0.0159 inches or 0.404 millimeters in diameter.
