Cable strand is a superior quality bead stringing material. Cable strand comes in a variety of diameters, is flexible, kink resistant, and very strong. Cable strand consists of multiple strands of very fine steel wound together and coated in nylon. The more strands wound together, the more flexible the wire. 49 Strand would be the most flexible, 7 strand is not as flexible, but holds its shape better. If you are a new beader and not sure which is best for you, try starting out with a medium flexibility strand such as 19 strand. Use a wire cutter designed for beading wire to avoid damaging your good sewing scissors. Wire guardians are recommended to protect your beading wire from abrasion at the clasp.
