Braiding fiber with the Kumihimo disk is fun and easy to learn. Kumihimo, means "gathering of threads". It is a Japanese style of braiding that has been around for thousands of years. Kumihimo braiding is traditionally done on a spool called a Marudi, which can easily cost a few hundred dollars.
