Antique Chevron Cane

Antique Chevron Cane

(4 products)

These Antique Venetian Chevron Cane segments were produced in Murano between the late 1800s and early 1900s and represent one of the most iconic forms of historic Venetian glasswork. Crafted using multiple layers of colored glass—typically four, five, or six layers—each cane was built using the traditional rosetta technique, where molten glass was shaped into a star-patterned core and then encased in contrasting layers before being drawn into long rods.

The sections in this collection range from 1 to 3 inches of usable length and feature the naturally uneven, fractured ends typical of century-old cane breakage. This roughness is part of their authenticity; the glass was never cut with modern tools, and age has further contributed to their irregular profiles. The bold starburst pattern—white, red, and navy encased in deep cobalt—is visible on every cross-section, making these pieces ideal for collectors, artists, carvers, and anyone seeking genuine antique Venetian chevron material for beads, pendants, scrimshaw-style carving, or display.

Because production batches were not individually recorded, some segments may be over 100 years old (antique), while others fall closer to the mid-century mark—but all are true Murano-made chevron cane from the historic Società Veneziana Conterie tradition.
