Mookaite jasper is a type of jasper, a variety of chert, that is sourced from the Kennedy Ranges in Western Australia near Mooka Creek. While often called "jasper," it's technically not a true jasper, as it's formed from the lithified skeletal remains of microscopic marine organisms called radiolaria. This results in its distinctive, colorful patterns and earthy tones.
