Rhyolite Round 6mm

$2340 $3900

SKU: 6ST478

Rhyolite rounds in 6mm cut from actual volcanic rock — each bead carries the natural patterning formed when lava cooled, so no two are identical.

Coloring runs through grey and silver-toned neutrals with the mottled, earthy variation that's natural to rhyolite's volcanic origin.

What to make with them

String them into stranded necklaces or wrap bracelets where the organic patterning can read as a continuous landscape, or mix them with other semi-precious stones in bead-weaving projects where their neutral tones anchor bolder colors without competing.

Description

Rhyolite is a mottled mossy green, beige and grey volcanic rock with the occasional hint of peach. Rhyolite is sometimes confused for jasper, but is actually closely related to both granite and obsidian. Rhyolite is formed from rapidly cooling magma, often resulting in glassy inclusions. This stone can be found in large deposits near Yellow Stone Park in Wyoming, USA.
