French wire — also called bullion or gimp — is a tightly coiled metal tube that slips over stringing thread where it meets a clasp, shielding the thread from friction and wear. This Beadalon version comes in a vintage silver finish with a fully opaque, plated-metal look and measures 0.8mm in diameter across 1 meter of coil.
The vintage silver finish reads like aged sterling — cool-toned and matte-metallic rather than flashy chrome, so it blends naturally with oxidized silver findings and antique-style clasps.
Cut small segments and thread them onto beading wire or silk cord before attaching your clasp loop — they curl neatly around the wire and hide the attachment point on necklaces, bracelets, and rosaries. They work especially well on heirloom-style stringing projects where the hardware is meant to be seen.

French Wire is tiny, coiled wire that covers the silk (or other stringing material) at the clasp when knotting pearls or beads.
To use: cut two matching pieces of French Wire between 1/4” and 3/8” depending on the size of the clasp rings, and use it both when beginning and ending a knotted or strung strand.
