Set your expectations on the hue before anything else. Apricot here is a pale cream-peach, not an orange. In mass it reads as a warm ivory with a blush of peach through it, closer to a tea rose than to fruit. The deeper apricot that justifies the name lives in the perforations rather than on the surface, so a filled area comes out creamier and paler than the colour name leads you to expect.

Two finishes stacked, and both are doing work. The body is opaline — translucent glass with a nacre-like sheen at its surface — and over that sits a luster coating that adds a further pearly shimmer. The luster did not reach fully into the cut ends, so the perforations read a distinctly warmer, deeper apricot-yellow. At 11/0 that two-tone effect becomes the character of the bead rather than a detail: a worked field reads as cream shot through with warm rings, not as flat cream. If you are matching a solid peach, the hole colour is part of what you will see.

Why it will not substitute. An opaque peach at the same hue reads dead beside this, and a plain opaline without the luster reads cooler and quieter. The shimmer plus the ringed perforations are the signature, and crossing out of that finish category is what makes a repair visible from across a room even when the swatch match is good.

Lot character. Coating density varies across the lot, so some beads carry more peach and shimmer while others sit closer to plain cream, and the perforation contrast varies with it. Uncirculated warehouse stock of this age carries the occasional off-colour bead — order enough to sort from if you need a clean single-colour field. Dark specks in the perforations are normal for this stock, and a pre-sort is worth the time for count-critical or uniform-face work.

Sizing and threading. SVC 11/0 runs 2.20–2.50mm with a hole in the 0.60–0.70mm range, roughly 15–16 beads to a strung inch, and strung counts for antique lots are estimates. A size 10–12 needle with 0.10–0.18mm thread suits it: KO, One-G or Nymo B/D. Antique holes are undocumented and vary lot to lot, and 11/0 and 12/0 share a size window in SVC stock, so caliper measurement beats the card notation.
