Genuine Venetian micro seed beads from old Società Veneziana Conterie warehouse stock, in Green #3. This is a rich, true mid-green in solid opaque glass — a confident kelly-to-grass green with real body, sitting squarely in the center of the green family without leaning yellow toward the spring tones or blue toward teal. It reads as a deliberate, classic green with the density of color that defines quality opaque Murano production.

Color consistency across this lot is excellent — remarkably uniform for hand-drawn production at this extremely fine scale, indicating a stable, well-mixed glass batch. Solid opaque construction: the color is carried through the glass, not layered or lined. The surface carries a soft satin finish. An occasional stray bead from an adjacent color lot may be present, consistent with undisturbed warehouse inventory.

Strong mid-greens were core working colors in period Venetian beadwork — used for foliage elements, borders, and grounding fields against brighter accent colors. At this micro scale, the fine gauge allows precise color placement in detailed appliqué and close loomed work. In restoration contexts, the position of a green matters: a green that is too yellow, too blue, or too dark will disrupt the tonal balance of surrounding original work. Sizing note: This lot measured approximately 0.91–1.13mm at sampling, spanning multiple nominal size designations around SVC 22/0 — among the finest gauges in our micro seed bead class (16/0 and finer). This variation is characteristic of hand-drawn Murano micro production, where the extremely fine cane diameter made precise size control difficult; it is inherent to the manufacturing process, not a sorting inconsistency. Antique beads are measured from original stock and sizing is approximate; dimensions may vary between lots. We recommend pre-sorting before count-critical work.
