Antique SVC Venetian Opaque Micro Seed Beads — White #1

Genuine Venetian micro seed beads from old Società Veneziana Conterie warehouse stock, in Opaque White #1. This is a clean, warm-neutral white in solid opaque glass with a soft satin surface — not the stark, blue-leaning white of modern production, and without the pearlescent sheen of the opaline whites elsewhere in the SVC palette. It reads as a natural, period-correct white: quiet, even, and organic.

Color and sizing consistency across this lot is excellent for hand-drawn Murano production at this extremely fine scale. Solid opaque construction: the color is carried through the glass, not layered or lined. Minor debris specks may be present, consistent with undisturbed warehouse inventory.

White is the most deceptively difficult color to match in restoration work — the eye detects discrepancies in white more readily than in any other color. A cool white beside a warm white, or a bright modern white beside an aged one, creates an immediately visible mismatch. Period beadwork used white extensively as background fill, and an authentic Venetian opaque white with the correct warm-neutral tone is essential wherever the whites must blend with original material. Sizing note: This lot measured approximately 1.0–1.14mm at sampling, spanning nominal size designations around SVC 22/0 — among the finest gauges in our micro seed bead class (16/0 and finer). This variation is characteristic of hand-drawn Murano micro production and is inherent to the manufacturing process, not a sorting inconsistency. Antique beads are measured from original stock and sizing is approximate; dimensions may vary between lots. We recommend pre-sorting before count-critical work.
