Description
Genuine Venetian crow beads from old Società Veneziana Conterie warehouse stock, sold by color from a single large mixed lot. Production dates within this lot span from the 1890s through the 1960s, covering nearly the full operational life of the SVC consortium (founded 1898, closed early 1990s). Some beads in this lot likely predate the consortium itself, originating from the sixteen independent Murano beadmaking families whose existing stock was consolidated when the SVC was formed.
Because this inventory came to us as one undifferentiated lot, precise dating of individual beads is not possible. The best indicators of relative age within the lot are the glass color itself, the condition and material of original stringing, and how the beads were bundled or packaged — details we note in individual product listings where applicable. We are transparent about what we know and what we don't.
These are handmade drawn glass beads, produced from canes pulled and cut by Murano artisans. Expect the natural variation that comes with this process: slight irregularities in shape, size, and color saturation are characteristic of the production method, not defects. Many of the original strings have deteriorated over decades of storage, so loose fragments of old stringing material may be present. This is normal for authentic vintage warehouse stock of this age and is left intact as part of the provenance.
