Genuine Venetian micro seed beads from old Società Veneziana Conterie warehouse stock, in Spring Green #2 with an opaline finish. This is an extremely pale green — a warm near-white carrying the faintest possible spring-green tint, with the quality of sea glass tumbled almost to whiteness. Individual beads read as barely tinted; the green identity emerges when the beads are viewed in quantity, where the cumulative cast becomes visible across the mass.

The opaline finish gives this bead its presence. A soft, pearlescent surface sheen — the gentle, nacre-like glow characteristic of opaline glass — catches light at the surface and lends warmth and luminosity to a color that would read as simply pale in a flat opaque finish. There is natural variation across the lot: some beads sit milkier and more opaque, others more translucent, giving massed beadwork a soft, dimensional texture rather than a uniform field.

For restoration and traditional beadwork, ultra-pale tinted beads like this one served deliberate roles in period designs — they are not stand-ins for white. The faint green tint and opaline surface provided a whisper of color that softened transitions and added tonal complexity to the lightest areas of a design, in a way pure white cannot. These are uncirculated old stock. An occasional stray bead from an adjacent color lot and minor debris fragments may be present, consistent with the handling of undisturbed warehouse inventory.

Sizing note for all SVC micro seed beads: These beads are sold as micro seed beads in the 16/0–24/0 range. Random sampling and measurement across our SVC micro inventory has confirmed that individual beads within any given lot range from approximately 0.9mm to 1.5mm, spanning multiple nominal size designations. This is characteristic of hand-drawn Murano micro production, where the extremely fine cane diameter made precise size control difficult at this scale. The variation is inherent to the manufacturing process, not a sorting or grading inconsistency on our part. We disclose this range rather than assigning a single size that does not accurately represent the lot. This particular lot measured approximately 0.9–1.19mm at sampling — the finer end of the micro range.

Note: Due to their extremely small size, these micro beads may not be suitable for all beading projects. We recommend using a beading tray and fine beading needle for best results.
